100% potato vodka is what we’re talking about here! Long Island’s fertile landscape provides an abundance of potatoes which local farmers eagerly supply to Long Island Spirits. For that reason Long Island Spirits produces one of the best vodkas in the world and the only vodka actually made “on” the Island.
Located in Baiting Hollow in the North Fork and nestled in over 5,000 acres of potato farms, the distillery, as do most things, started as a dream. An idea Long Island Spirits founder, Rich Stabile decided to pursue with his lifelong friend and fellow wine and spirit enthusiast, Dan Pollicino.
The two set the plan in action in 2006, and now have a renovated venue and a world class vodka to show for it. Not only that, they also produce specialty sorbetta liqueurs as well as the first Brandy ever made on Long Island.
So the question we have is…
How many potatoes does it take to produce one bottle of their signature vodka LiV?
Approximately 15 pounds of hand selected potatoes actually!
