The explosion of the wine industry on Long Island is similar to the old Gold Rush in California. As soon as word got out about the abundant and profitable resource, everyone scrambled to stake their claim in the area. And though gold makes mighty fine jewelry amongst other things, nothing beats a glass of skillfully crafted Champagne. By 2002, with open vineyard space on the North Fork diminishing, Sparkling Pointe planted their roots and established themselves as New York’s only sparkling exclusive winery.
Not only does Sparkling Pointe stock an assortment of Champagnes, they also provide Long Island with a exclusive taste of Brazil hosting their Annual Sparkling Pointe Carnaval each July. The celebration typically features a 15 piece drum line, 5 piece bossa nova band, and (of course) traditional samba queens! The Carnaval truly brings the spirit of Rio de Janeiro to Long Island and is quite a spectacle to experience in person.
Those who appreciate art will find the interior of Sparkling Point adorned with colorful paintings and magnificent chandeliers. It is easy to forget you are at a winery and not an art museum!
The recipient of numerous awards, Sparkling Pointe is one of the more popular destinations our tour groups request. The atmosphere and decorations of the tasting room welcome you to take a load of and is open 7 days a week from 11-6pm. If you didn’t get a chance to enjoy the full experience at Carnaval, don’t fret, Bossa Nova Fridays still run every Friday night and continues to spice up Long Island.
